About the book
"Chronicle in stone" is immediately affirmed as a fundamental work in the framework of Kadare's whole creativity. It is the novel of entry into life and literature. The storyteller is the author who tries to reconsider the child's first eight years of life. Since this childhood has originated elements that make up the "Kadare Universe". He gains his sharp sense of fantasy, or "magical realism". The astonishing sloping streets, the presence of stone everywhere, the strange, large and fortified flats, the castle, which has some neighborhoods, spectacular views over the Drino and the mountains, all this will form a little glimpse of a Future writer. Gjirokastra invites you to magic and as Kadare writes, "it seems as if the city is set up to awaken great ideas". He calls it a great luck that started his life in such a setting: "The more I learned the secrets of the art of writing, the more I was convinced that I was lucky to have been grown in this particular city.
